Sadly, golden rerievers are most likely to die of cancer.  The Golden Retriever Club of America states, "Approximately 60% of all Goldens will die from cancer."  Hopefully someday a pre-screening test will be available to breeders.  For now, here at Radiant Goldens, we proactively reduce toxin exposure and offer nutrient dense foods/supplements to our dogs, helping their bodies to eliminate toxins.  Limiting exposure to toxins and regular detoxifying are important by providing nutritional support to the liver and kidneys!!

We offer our dogs fermented beyond organic beets(grown on our farm when possible) and fermented organic carrot/ginger, raw organic apple cider vinegar, daily/weekly.  We also provide filtered purified water, raw meats(including organs), raw beyond organic eggs(raised on our farm).  
There are commercial products available but local and raw (always organically grown) is the most nutrient dense you can offer your beloved fur baby!

2022:  We have started a rabbit colony to raise meat for our dogs.  We hope to be able to offer our dogs rabbit meat/organs sometime in 2023.
Our rabbits are raised with vegetables and a variety of herbs grown on our property, kale, romaine, spinach and comfrey to name a few.   
They receive non-GMO pellets as needed.   We grow beyond organically.
OTHER MEATS WE FEED:
raw venison (hunted on our farm)
raw beef (local farmers)
raw chicken (raised on our farm)
raw lamb (local farmers)
raw bones (never ever cooked)
bone broth (we make ourselves)

What does beyond organic means?  
We deal with weeds and pests laboriously, picking pests off plants by hand, also using neem and maintaining a healthy soil balance.  
We do not use commercially marketed organic herbicides and/or pesticides EVER.  We also cultivate our own compost for our gardens.  This compost feeds our plants, the plants feed our rabbits and chickens, and our dogs eventually will eat the rabbit/chicken meat.   It is a wonderful cycle but labor intensive.  We are busy from sunrise to sunset and beyond the wee hours of the night.  

TO DATE - OCTOBER 2024:  
​Our adult dogs(Ben, Diva, Chloe and their offspring living with us), whether imported or held back from our breeding and raised by us, beyond puppyhood, have never developed any form of cancer, allergy or auto-immune diseases.  Although, these diseases do not discriminate, so we must be vigilant in the our care of our dogs. 
We hope these diseases never touch our dogs. 
A food or environmental allergy is an indicator that their immune system is weak!

Please be aware commercial products are ever changing, today sourcing the materials is a challenge for most companies.  Where are they getting their ingredients?  Please read all labels and contact the companies and ask questions about their ingredients and where they were sourced.  We must be forever diligent for the health of our dogs.  Prior to the 1970's golden retrievers often lived to 15 years of age, sometimes a bit longer.   What has changed?  

We also use homeopathy whenever needed.
